The annual award will be presented by Heavy Reading - the research and consulting arm of Light Reading, the world's leading online publication for the telecomm industry – at the Ethernet Expo 2007 in New York City. The Regional Innovation Award recognizes Optimum Lightpath as the region's leading Ethernet service provider which has demonstrated the greatest innovation in Ethernet product development, as well as sales and marketing execution.

Heavy Reading's analysts interviewed all the nominated service providers and used the following criteria to conduct a comprehensive market analysis to determine the Regional Innovation Award winner:

• Deployment of new network technologies that enhance the feature-richness of the Ethernet portfolio;
• Service level agreement (SLA) leadership;
• Choice of service access on-ramps;
• Solutions tailored for particular industry verticals;
• Web service portals and other means of improving the customer experience, and
• Innovative sales and marketing campaigns.
